Lab Operations Manager, SSF

Lab Operations Manager, South San Francisco

Position Summary: 

The Lab Operations Manager will support the day-to-day operations of the South San Francisco site by executing routine lab maintenance, consumable ordering and stocking, equipment maintenance, and daily deliveries. The Lab Operations Manager will be the first point of contact for safety, laboratory emergencies, deliveries, shipping/receiving, and other lab-related requests for the R&D team. The successful candidate will have the curiosity, flexibility, and collaborative team spirit to thrive in fast-paced and dynamic environment. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain laboratory SOPs related to lab equipment and operations procedures
  • Responsible for shipping and receiving of daily packages
  • Stock and order all common inventory of general office supplies and lab consumables (e.g., reagents, buffers, and gases, etc.)
  • Responsible for equipment troubleshooting, coordinating service and repair, maintenance, and cleanliness
  • Proactively maintain organization of the lab
  • Facilitate waste disposal with external vendor, conduct safety walkthroughs and coordinate required trainings/orientations
  • Assist in office management (kitchen and office supplies), guest management, and maintaining vendor relationships
  • Serve as representative on the Safety Committee and contribute to risk assessment and policy implementation
  • Responsible for new lab employee orientation for South San Francisco (setting up bench space, bench assignments, new lab employee startup set, etc)
  • Assist with maintenance of asset management system and documentation
  • Proactively reduce risks of supply disruptions by monitoring supply, identifying potential problems, and resolving issues that may prevent on-time delivery
  • Assist in chemical reagent inventory, documentation and tracking to align with Erasca safety initiatives
  • Responsible for autoclaving and glasswash as needed
  • Function as point of contact between administrative, scientific, and building management staff
  • Deliver a high level of customer service within the company
  • Work closely with lab operations team to cross-functionally support improvement initiatives.
  • Complete additional operations and lab support duties as necessary
  • Perform all duties in keeping with the Company’s core values, policies and all applicable regulations

Desired Experience and Skills:  

  • Experience in a laboratory environment required, Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years experience or Associate’s degree with 5 years work experience or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment.
  • Knowledge of safe laboratory practices.
  • Able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and carry out work duties with minimal supervision.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Demonstrated desire to work and support others.
  • Great analytical skills with an eagerness to proactively problem solve
  • Customer service oriented and experience working with people from different functions, backgrounds, and levels of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Strong learning orientation, curiosity, and passion for science and patients.
