Laboratory Operations Manager

Lab Operations Manager

Position Summary:    

The Lab Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of our San Diego research/discovery (non-GMP) lab by independently executing routine lab maintenance, project management, work order processing, consumable ordering and stocking, equipment maintenance, and daily deliveries. This person has knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety regulations to ensure efficient operations. The Lab Operations Manager thrives in fast-paced and dynamic environment and is a key player in Erasca’s growth.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee day to day lab operations and support R&D departments. 
  • Lead, manage, and develop direct report(s).
  • Manage, stock, and order all common inventory of lab consumables, reagents, buffers, and gases.  
  • Oversight of Shipping and Receiving: Receive, organize, and deliver all incoming shipments and resolve any discrepancies.  
  • Responsible for coordinating lab equipment service, repair, and maintenance.  
  • Oversee vendor relations: Quote requests, price comparisons, supplier and alternative supplier identification, troubleshooting, and annual consumable spend analysis. 
  • Negotiate with vendors for the best possible price and service guarantee for goods and services, such as major equipment purchases and installation, equipment maintenance agreements, laboratory supplies, and any other items as assigned. 
  • Responsible for equipment (g., freezer & incubator) monitoring and when needed, after-hours response. 
  • Function as point of contact between administrative, scientific, and building management staff.  
  • Perform daily lab maintenance and proactively maintain organization of the lab.  
  • Facilitate waste disposal with external vendor, conduct safety walkthroughs and coordinate required trainings.  
  • Play an active role on the safety committee and be responsible for maintaining all EHS & Lab Operations documentation.  
  • Maintain/help develop asset management system and documentation. 
  • Assist in chemical reagent inventory and tracking. 
  • Coordinate and set-up laboratory spaces for new hires. 
  • Develop and maintain laboratory SOPs (non-GMP) related to lab equipment and operations procedures.  
  • Ensure compliance with Erasca safety policies and best practices across functional teams and provide sufficient PPE within all laboratories.  
  • Interface with the Accounting Department providing cross functional support as required.
  • Involvement with the development of Lab Operations and CapEx
  • Complete additional operations and lab support duties as necessary. 
  • Perform all duties in keeping with the Company’s core values, policies, and applicable regulations.  

Required Skills & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years work experience in a laboratory environment preferred; Associate’s degree with 5+ years relevant work experience may be considered, or comparable experience. 
  • Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment.  
  • Knowledge of safe laboratory practices with experience handling laboratory chemicals. 
  • Flexible with ability to prioritize and manage high volume of work. 
  • Customer service oriented with demonstrated desire to work with and support others.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people from varied functions, backgrounds, and levels of seniority.
  • Proficient computer skills.  
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team. 
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.  
  • Able to lift and move items weighing up to 50
  • Able to carry out work duties with minimum supervision. 
  • Strong learning orientation, curiosity, and commitment to science and patients.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $104,500 to $125,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etcetera. In addition to base salary, the hired applicant will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and an equity grant at hire and annually in the form of the option to purchase stock in the future for a specified price.
