Position Summary:
Erasca is a San Diego based biotechnology company focused on discovering and developing precision medicines for the benefit of patients with cancer. We are advancing multiple programs targeting biological drivers of cancer and are pursuing additional pipeline expansion opportunities through academic and biopharmaceutical collaborations. Our programs, currently focused on innovative discovery research, take novel approaches to shutting down certain oncogene drivers of solid tumor malignancies. The name “Erasca” has an important embedded meaning: it is a contraction of our audacious hope to “erase cancer” that drives our mission and everything that we do on behalf of patients with cancer.

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist / Sr. Scientist, chemistry to join our small molecule drug discovery chemistry team.  In this laboratory-based position, the successful candidate will play a vital role in the discovery of novel, proprietary clinical candidates by generating innovative solutions to synthetic and medicinal chemistry challenges.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain a high level of productivity in the laboratory setting
  • Work with autonomy to design experiments, interpret data, and propose solutions to problems
  • Synthesize drug-like molecules utilizing medicinal chemical knowledge and build understanding of ADME, pharmacokinetics and optimal physicochemical properties
  • Undertake data analysis to assess experimental results and characterize compounds produced
  • Accurately and diligently report experimental findings
  • Collaborate closely with other functional areas such as computational chemistry, biology, DMPK, pharmacology and toxicology to collect, analyze and interpret data related to the projects of interest
  • Present frequently on all or parts of the generated data to other project team members as well as the rest of the company, with transparency and clarity
  • Maintain laboratory equipment in good conditions and promote common safe work environment practices
  • Represent the company externally in scientific meetings and congresses
  • Stay current by reading and learning about the multidisciplinary field of drug discovery
  • Perform all duties in keeping with the Company’s core values, policies and all applicable regulations.
Required Education  and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in synthetic organic chemistry and 1-2 years of postdoctoral experience.  During this time the candidate must have demonstrated the ability to independently carry out original research and tackle outstanding scientific problems by finding creative solutions.  The quality of these doctoral/postdoctoral positions will be reflected in publications in peer-reviewed high impact journals.
  • A successful track record of achievements advancing projects by applying modern synthetic and analytical techniques
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including preparation of presentations
  • Will be required to work about 70% within the lab


  • Experience with structure-based drug design
  • Able to work in a collaborative environment, usually within a small multi-disciplinary project team
